Human Resource ManagementThis module on human resource management reinforced some things I had already learned about human resource management, but more importantly, it introduced changes that have occurred since my last exposure to this topic. Technical advances in using the Internet as an employee resource represent a major change since my last exposure to this topic. Another area of change is the trend towards employee outsourcing. I managed an outsourced company hired to service Xerox equipment in a specific territory. The type of work was just as described in the textbook: a repetitive type task. I learned from the text the reasoning and profit improvements the company achieved from outsourcing. Overall, this module was a learning experience and a good reinforcement for those concepts I knew but hadn't used in a while. The topics I have chosen to focus on in this summary document are Recruitment and Selection, Equal Employment Opportunity, and Affirmative Action and Human Resource Planning. I believe these topics are not only important for the HR manager, but also for the front-line managers of the organization. Managers who understand these concepts can help the company achieve its human resources management goals, as well as develop the manager's human resources management skills. When company managers understand the objectives of human resource management, they can better articulate and carry out their responsibilities including corporate management. Today's human resource management issues require the support of company managers to collectively implement change and attract future candidates. Recruitment and selection The recruitment process includes finding alternative solutions to p...... middle of paper ......ical people who they did not intend to lose. Finally, the HR manager who follows global market trends will continue to keep pace with the global job market. Human resource managers must continue to expand their knowledge and understanding in the global marketplace to keep their company abreast of new developments and trends. My expectation is that I will continue to keep abreast of changes in the human resources management process. By keeping my skills in the recruitment and selection process up to date I will be able to make informed hiring decisions on behalf of the company. Pursuing my interest in key legislative changes will help me maintain current skills to make positive employee decisions. Finally, understanding human resource planning strategies will allow me to improve my effectiveness as a manager.
