There are two types of people in this world. No, not the entertainers and those who observe, as Britney Spears kindly pointed out, but rather; followers or leaders. There are many styles in which a leader can lead a certain group of followers. The two most popular, common and most sought after are transformational and charismatic leaders. Transformational and charismatic leadership styles are widely known among philosophers. But which is more effective? Transformational is definitely a better leadership style than charismatic, especially when you are dealing with a group of people or an organization and you are the leader of a group of people or an organization. The three ways this can be demonstrated are by studying the differences between each style in how they influence their followers, what their main goal is when working with a group of people or an organization, and their methods of empowering followers own followers. There are so many types of leadership styles in this world and each has different focuses and objectives. Likewise, transformational and charismatic leadership styles also differ. Transformational leaders tend to focus on the task at hand. They are very good at staying on task and keeping an eye on a goal that will benefit the organization and its followers. Changing Minds, a very resourceful website on different leadership styles, states that “…[a] Transformational Leader will accept that there will be failures and blind canyons along the way. As long as they feel that progress is being made, they will be happy.” Through this quote we can ensure that this type of leader focuses strongly on achieving a goal that is for the good of the organization and its followers.
