For example, research found that young people with a history of difficulties, such as "legal and social difficulties", were less likely to detect the meaning of facial expression (Cross, Bernadette. 2001, pg 773). The inability or difficulty in processing the basic steps of emotional intelligence is an obstacle to improving interpersonal communications, however, we have found that according to Dr. Verderber and Dr. Verderber, “no one is born with emotional intelligence… it can be learned and developed over time. time” (2013, page 22). Therefore, getting better is still an option for those who struggle. We found a solution from Dr. Salovey that can be applied in certain circumstances. For example, sharing traumatic and painful experiences is an important process for understanding one's emotions (2005). Therefore, if we have or have had problems with recognition, we can change the situation by recognizing our barriers. This way we can move on to using our experience and applying it to others
