Impaired driving is a major problem in our society and is a problem that is easily preventable unlike many other legal problems. Punishment for drunk driving is barely contemplated when drunk drivers operate the vehicle. It is considered lenient and studies show that it is a belief that is repeated time and time again. In order to avoid all these problems and address the flaws in our system of government, the penalties for convicting the accused of crimes related to drunk driving should be much more severe than the current penalties, in order to completely stop driving intoxicated within our imperfect government system.
