Sport has influenced society since the dawn of time. They have a significant impact on society in different aspects such as: economically, socially and politically. The impact of Major League Baseball is prevalent, it is one of the old days where families of different socioeconomic status dedicate themselves to watching their favorite athletes. Major League Baseball is known for having the highest-paid professional athletes. These baseball players make well over a million dollars a season just to get started. As their fame increases, their contract increases and the pressure increases endlessly. The pressure to stay and be the best is always at the highest level. While this pressure is immense, it sometimes ruins the legacy and honesty of the sport and the player. The salary alone is well above what most average Americans earn and take home in a year to feed, clothe and protect their families. This affects how younger generations think about their decisions in life. Many young people aspire to grace the Major League Baseball diamond to secure exactly this income and secure their future. The desire is to obtain as much money as possible to assist not only themselves, but also their family members. What is shown on television as a perfect and pompous lifestyle is not always what it seems. Behind the scenes, these players are fighting for their positions, trying to break records to stay relevant. This is sometimes accompanied by the use of performance-enhancing drugs that are illegal and detailed in every contract. PEDs are a way to honestly advance one's career and allow a professional athlete to perform at a higher level and pace than their teammate... middle of paper... and fight their battle. While others before him have been convicted of using these drugs such as Barry Bonds and Jose Canseco, they have used Alex as an example of what will happen for this repeated behavior. He was given the longest suspension for cheating in the entire history of Major League Baseball. In connection, this is an example to show the spectators and spectators of the sport what will make you cheat. Major League umpire Fredric Horowitz couldn't believe anything that came out of Alex Rodriguez's mouth and criticized his dishonesty and irresponsibility as a professional athlete. From Frederic's perspective, Rodriguez had no interest in using these drugs to gain notoriety. Rodriguez had to forfeit his entire salary for the 2014 season, which was worth more than $20 million, along with all other bonuses and incentives he would have received.
