The 2012 Olympics and their impact on the hospitality sector in London. Research background/contextOn 6 July 2005, London was chosen as the host city for the 2012 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. The games are often labeled the 'greatest spectacle on earth' involving thousands of sportsmen and women from from all over the world who aim to achieve maximum sporting results. The Olympic Games will take place entirely in London, but the bid team stressed throughout the campaign that the Games would benefit the whole of Britain. The proposed research concerns the impact of the organization of the 2012 Olympics in London and its specific impact on the hospitality sector. Other studies have been conducted on the impact of the Olympics viz. Olympics Games Impact Study (OIGS), a study conducted by Price Water House Coopers in December 2005. It was commissioned by the DCMS and the London Development Agency to assess the likely social and economic benefits of hosting the Olympics and Paralympics in 2012. cheap.
