Many people say they care about endangered species, but what do they actually do to help them? Some people, like those who work for the WWF (World Wildlife Fund), decide to take action. “WWF is building a future where human needs are met in harmony with nature” (worldwildlife.org). The organization helps both the environment and endangered species. WWF not only allows you to symbolically adopt endangered animals, but also does many things to help empower communities and promote conservation. As climate change becomes a bigger problem every day, WWF helps underdeveloped communities address the problem, live more sustainably and take action against it. With the exception of Antarctica, the World Wildlife Fund is active on every continent. Five million people support this organization, which has been active since 1961. From the Amazon to the Arctic, WWF is committed to making a difference in the world by helping the environment and trying to save endangered species. As stated by nationalgeographic.com, Asian elephants are one of the largest land animals in the world! Despite the size of Asian elephants, they are still endangered. Slightly smaller than their relatives (African elephants) are Asian elephants. Elephants love water and use their trunks to shower, smell, breathe and grasp things. Imagine a harsh desert, with nothing but sand and a pit full of murdered elephants, young and old, all without tusks; this is the reality. Which are used to burrow and even fight other elephants, hunters kill Asian elephants for their ivory tusks while humans use ivory for pianos and jewelry. India, Nepal and other places in Southeast Asia are home to Asian elephants. These gigantic creatures can consume up to 300 pounds...... middle of paper...... 2013. "Red Panda." Information sheet.
