Ethics is a moral principle on which human behavior is based. Therefore, business ethics is a moral principle on which corporate behavior is based. A successful company strives to achieve a series of objectives that include profit maximization, increased market share, corporate social responsibility and stakeholder satisfaction. The moral objectives or guidelines on which an organization is founded are called ethical objectives. The reasons for establishing such objectives are mainly to promote a positive culture among employees and create a good reputation for the company among customers and suppliers; as well as establishing boundaries between what is right and what is wrong. Therefore, this essay, with reference to the film “Erin Brockovich”, aims to investigate the extent to which ethical objectives influence the future of an organization. Taking into account ethical objectives, any organization that follows such ethical behaviors could be negatively affected in the short term. time, but will undoubtedly have a positive impact on the organization in the medium to long term. Structural changes within an organization must be made in the short term to account for ethical objectives, including but not limited to changes in organizational structure, personnel, and programs. These measures are expensive; therefore they could impact the organization's revenue. That said, these changes within the organization will contribute to long-term benefits. Sometimes people in organizations take on certain roles illegally as they are neither certified nor trained for this role. “Throughout the film Erin was practicing law illegally and Mr. Masry was aware of this.” Since Erin worked as a secretary in the law firm, she had no right to do… middle of paper… those values that they think is to the benefit of their organization, not knowing that it is harmful in the long run. In the short term, not taking these values into consideration maximizes profit in a minimum amount of time; however, in the long term, failure to comply with these principles affects the attitude with which an organization is managed and, consequently, the final product. Therefore, we come to the conclusion that ethical obligations have an effect on the future of an organization and would define its future direction. Works Cited (2012, 11).
