Aung San Suu Kyi was born on June 19, 1945 in Rangoon, now known as Yangon. She grew up with her mother and two brothers. His father was murdered by his rivals in 1947. His brother, Aung San Lin, died when he was eight years old by drowning in an ornamental lake on the grounds of their home. After the death, the family moved to Inya Lake where they met people with different political views, backgrounds and religions. He attended Methodist English High School for most of his childhood in Burma.
