Macbeth was like a puppet when it came to what he did. He has been easily manipulated multiple times in history. Overconfidence in witches' prophecies and Lady Macbeth were just two of the situations where he was easily manipulated. When the witches continued to tell him the prophecies that he would become king, Macbeth believed them with all his heart. He even went so far as to say that none of their prophecies could ever come true, but they did (Macbeth V. viii. 27-34). He was easily manipulated into believing that these prophecies would never come true, which ultimately led to his death since the prophecies were true. He was also manipulated by Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth tried to convince Macbeth to go along with the plan to kill Duncan after he backed out. It was easy for Lady Macbeth to manipulate him without realizing it because he trusted her. Macbeth's easy manipulation ultimately led to his death. In contrast, Hamlet had enough faith not to believe what others told him. Hamlet understood that Claudius had killed his father and did not believe people whenever they said that he died of natural causes (Hamlet). Hamlet also showed confidence when he exchanged the letter that said he would be put to death. If he had not done so successfully a completely different situation could have been created. Since he did this, he was able to kill Claudius. If he didn't have the confidence to exchange letters, he would have done so
