Oprah Winfrey is an inspiration to many around the world. He didn't have a very good home life until he was 14. She was abused as a child and did not see her mother very often because she was a housekeeper who was away almost every day all day. Vernon Winfrey, Oprah's father, was a great help in her life when it came to supporting her in a non-violent way. Oprah also had her career going in her favor when she became Miss Black Tennessee at age 17. When Oprah became Miss Black Tennessee she was offered a broadcasting job and a full scholarship in Tennessee. Oprah has had quite a few talk shows, but she made more money from her show, The Oprah Winfrey Show, and now has her own one-man network called The Oprah Winfrey Network. Oprah Winfrey's influential style had a great impact on those who came after her in the entertainment industry. Oprah Winfrey lived a very tough life until Vernon Winfrey took her into good hands. She lived in Kosciusko, Mississippi for the first 6 years of her life, then moved to Milwaukee to live with her mother who was a housekeeper. When Oprah lived with her mother she was sexually harassed during the day, when her mother worked long days. This abuse went on every possible day for 4 years until she walked out on her own at age 14. Oprah had given birth to a baby boy, who died unexpectedly in infancy. After the child's death, she moved in with her father who lived in Tennessee. “Vernon Winfrey was a strict parent, but he gave his daughter the safe home that Oprah needed.
