The book features a simple plot and characters so that it will appeal to more people. The book also has very short chapters so a person can easily read it on the bus ride to and from work. More importantly, the book includes most examples of socialist realism and ties in perfectly with the promotion of Stalin's five-year plan. Stalin wanted to industrialize the nation faster than many thought would be possible. This book proves that it is possible to achieve the impossible despite hard work and commitment
