In the novel The Handmaids' Tale the reader can see the many manipulations of the Bible in which Attwood wrote. The laws and rules of Gilead come from the Bible, the leaders, who are all men, choose only the parts of the Bible that benefit them, leaving the women out in the cold. The Bible is misapplied many times in the novel and this raises the question of whether our own society manipulates any kind of law above us citizens. It may not be as extreme as in The Handmaids Tale; yet our society mistakenly uses the Bible to take some away
