The Lone Star Nation reflects the efforts of individuals who ultimately change the state of the Lone Star forever. Specific Texan Heroes Stephen Austin who founded Texas, along with Sam Houston who led the Texas Army and who was the governor. William Travis and his love for Rosanna were discovered while James Bowie and David Crockett stood up and fought for the Alamo. One dictator whose procedures turned the colonists against him but which impacted Texas to this day was Santa Anna. At this time when Texas was making its way as a state, Andrew Jackson was president. Lone Star Nation shows how Texas grew as a territory in the 1820s with every major event and battle caused by or for Texas. Texas had its Alamo-like victories thanks to battles with the Comanche tribe and others. HW Brands tells the story of every single type of person who helps create what Texas is today. Families, women, slaves, generals, opponents and many others. The beginning of this whole time period began when the Texas territory began to float. This area of land rose above sea level calm and flat. “A handful of smaller volcanoes spread lava across the landscape, but for the most part emergence involved little more than a slight tilt of the seafloor, with the northwest rising slightly more than the southwest” (Brands 3 ). Texas was full of small rivers unlike most states. Texas began with immigrants primarily from Tennessee. One day, Moses Austin, a frontier industrialist, and his son Stephen began exploring this territory to exploit their lust for land. Even though Moses Austin failed in everything he experienced early in his life, he always had new ambitions. Moses was married to a Philadelphia lady named Mary Brown. They had two daughters… middle of the paper… it was hard to keep track of the story and so on. This book was actually very interesting seeing how the brands deal with the main characters fighting for the independence of Texas and how they took on a different role during this time period. Each individual did their part, experienced a different event and reacted differently. ways. All of this leads to the beginning, the process and the end of what we call territory; the beginning of the state, Texas. The Lone Star Nation told all the glorious stories of the political republic of how Texas began its road to a revolution and birth. Starting as part of Mexico, Texas gained its independence from Mexico, suffered many victories and defeats, but managed to rise above and became the 28th state to join the United States of America.
