Children are influenced by their education. Their actions blame their parents for not giving them proper guidance. There are parents who allow their children to make decisions on their own and do not become a good support system for the child. Children are not legally responsible for themselves until the age of eighteen. It is the parents who have the authority; therefore, children can have emotional input, but it depends on the parent. What is obesity? It is the excessively high amount of body fat in relation to lean mass. For years it has been a battle to change the way people eat, so they don't gain weight. Parents manipulate their children into thinking that food can cure all their problems. Food has become an addiction, where parents teach their children to rely on food for comfort against their well-being. Children are said to have unhealthy eating habits; as well as poor exercise skills. A child's guardian plays a negative role in persuading a young, naïve individual that big is "good." Obesity is a form of child abuse and parents should be held accountable; it should be socially unacceptable because obese children are treated unfairly, it makes the child psychologically unstable and the child must make good health choices otherwise he or she will later suffer from negative health conditionsRebecca Puhl addresses the issue that “Obesity is highly stigmatized in our society and overweight individuals are vulnerable to negative bias, prejudice and discrimination in many different contexts, including the workplace… and even within interpersonal relationships.” Young children are exposed to the negative attitudes people have towards them when they are obese.
