Lady Macbeth: “Out of the damned place: out I say.” (5.1.30) Lady Macbeth once thought that she would be able to cleanse herself of the horrors she had once committed. This is not possible because she is so full of guilt that her hands are now completely covered in blood. Lady Macbeth feels she cannot escape the evils of her past, she is trapped in those of the present. Lady Macbeth is also trapped in sleep because of the evils she and her husband have committed. Scene 2 Angus: “Now the menacing riots reproach his breach of faith./ Those he commands move only at the command,/ Nothing in love. Now he feels his title/ hanging loosely on him, like a giant's robe/ on a very small thief” (5.2.18-22). The lords know that Macbeth is hurt and tormented by his past actions, and is afraid of those who follow his command not out of respect or love. They follow him only out of fear and simply out of duty. The lords have all turned against Macbeth. Malcolm has won the battle and the Lords know it. Angus knows that Macbeth's title of king has effectively become useless and does nothing. Macbeth's people have turned against him, Angus points out that Macbeth now knows the consequences of the murders he committed. Scene 3Macbeth: “Bring me no more reports. Let them all fly./ Till Birnam Wood moves to Dunsinane/ I cannot taint myself with fear. What is Malcolm the boy? Was he not born of woman?" (5.3.1-4).Macbeth does not listen to any of the reports regarding Malcolm's army and its approach to Dunsinane Hill. Macbeth goes so far as to mock Malcolm for being born of woman and not can defeat Macbeth. Macbeth talks vaguely about how shriveled and empty his life has become. Macbeth has become fearless and arrogant because he feels confident that in the witch... middle of paper... he will put Malcolm on the throne even greater he must be the one who kills Macbeth so that all those killed or hurt by Macbeth can be avenged. Macduff must do good for others and for himself. Scene 8Macduff: I tell you that Macduff came from his mother's womb /torn prematurely.(5.8.15-16)When Macbeth informs Macduff of the prophecy, which Macbeth believes will protect him and allow him to maintain control over Scotland, Macduff now lets him know that he was not born of a woman is now complete; Macbeth can be killed. Macduff makes sure that he can defeat Macbeth because he was not born of a woman. With this new knowledge Macduff knows that he must be the one to kill Macbeth and secure Malcolm's right to the throne. Macduff kills Macbeth, being the only one capable of doing so and ensuring peace and prosperity for Scotland.
