Topic > Animal Experimentation - 1831

I have always had a great admiration for animals. As an owner of two dogs, I believe they are man's friend and both benefit from each other in terms of companionship and joy. They also contribute a lot to the balance of the ecosystem. These are some of the various reasons why I chose this topic. In this research paper I will inform you, the reader of the horrific experiences that innocent animals have to endure due to the fact that advocates believe that animal testing is a humane method of improving our lives. Animal testing is a very substantial issue that has been debated for a long time. The antagonism of animal testing is not a new issue. Many people support the use of animals in research and others strongly disagree. For many years it was opposed by many animal rights activists who created the Animal Cruelty Act of 1876 which led to the welfare of laboratory animals (Monamy, 3). In some cases this has led to aggressive action to stop abuse. Historically it was initially opposed by professional physiologists, later involving the public (Monamy, 3). Supporters of animal testing believe that it contributes greatly to human progress. It is clearly a topic that many people are passionate about. In my opinion, I believe that the use of animals for testing is unethical, it should be replaced by alternative methods and consumer products should stop being tested on animals for our benefit. Animal experimentation is the use of live animals for biological, psychological purposes, and medical technology research (Monamy, 6). Vivisections are also a research method. It is the partial or complete dissections of animals for re...... middle of paper ......, it is essential for our race to move from cruel animal testing to more ethical research methods. It is truly shameful to realize that innocent animals are subjected to atrocious suffering at the expense of war armaments and consumer products. With our great technology it is evident that we are able to advance our techniques. New approaches should be adopted. Contributing more scientists to projects like the Human Genome Project is critical. Furthermore, the production of tissues and cells in laboratories can also be used to eliminate animal testing by multinational corporations. Now that we have new ways to test products, legislators should force companies to implement these techniques. Overall, it will be rewarding in the future when we realize how much we have valued animal species and how much we have advanced our testing protocols.
