Experience n. 6 I continue to work my hours at the job fair organized by the school counselors of the Besteiro middle school. I have to admit that going back to my old middle school brought back good and bad memories. However, I liked this day because it was a way to better understand everything that happened to teenagers and create new positive memories linked to this school. I continue to help the school counselors by making sure everything went smoothly for this event. The students were released and began entering the gym. Students had paperwork they needed to complete at the career fair to ensure they asked questions and visited the career fair tables. I was helping the school counselors by explaining the sheet to any students who had questions about the purpose of the sheet or what to do at the career fair. Additionally, I was helping to make sure students didn't go without visiting the career fair tables. I continue taking photos, but this time the photos were of the students with the presenters. I was making sure to get good footage of speakers explaining their tasks to the students and some speakers were even practicing with the students to do certain tasks in their careers. I was glad I was able to help at the career fair because I could see how the students were actually interested and asking questions of the speakers. This day brought me memories of when I was young and I was eager to ask questions about their duties and all the ideas I had in mind to become someone in life. School counselors play a vital role in students' lives, not only in middle school, but also at all levels of their education. I was excited to be able to do a one-on-one session for the first time with a middle school student. The students seemed to feel comfortable having a one-on-one session with me and she was willing to provide the necessary information during this session. She always seemed to be calm and seemed to be herself during the session. It seemed to me that he was going through issues related to low self-esteem and a sense of betrayal from his friends. She said she felt down because of some comments her teacher keeps making about her. It seemed to me that the student was able to express her concerns and seemed to be more relaxed after concluding the session. I thank the student for wanting to talk to me and I really enjoy this overall experience.
