1 INTRODUCTION A Google search for "Internet Entrepreneur" will retrieve more than 9 million links to blogs, portals and websites about Internet Entrepreneurs. The success of several prominent entrepreneurs such as Larry Page, Sergey Brin, David Filo, Jerry Yang, and Jeff Bezos became the inspiration for others to become Internet entrepreneurs, but not all of them would be successful in the long term. In addition to the pioneers, however, there are also others – such as Dany Levy, David Liu, Reed Hastings and Alex Algard – who have succeeded and survived in the long term. It appears that the strategies adopted by successful Internet entrepreneurs have enabled them to sustain their businesses better than those who have failed. This raises several questions about how Internet entrepreneurs survive and succeed in the long term. How did these Internet entrepreneurs choose appropriate strategies and continue to be successful? How did they devise the strategies that led to the success of their companies after startup? What types of processes have they adopted to set their strategies? Do they have any preferences for certain approaches to formulating their long-term strategic decision making beyond startup? Are there differences between these successful entrepreneurs when they develop their strategies after startup? These questions raise an important question about how Internet entrepreneurs actually develop their post-startup strategies. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore how Internet entrepreneurs formulate their strategies beyond the startup. Five types of strategy formation processes adapted from Mintzberg's ten schools of thought are used to conduct an in-depth analysis of the strategy process for fifteen successes... halfway through the paper... through the process of learning over time. Strategies in this case will appear “first as patterns from the past, then as plans for the future, and finally as prospects for guiding overall behavior” (pp. 208-209). Therefore the next question will be: to what extent is post-startup strategy formed by Internet entrepreneurs through an emergent learning process? 2.2 Theoretical Framework These detailed research questions will help clarify how Internet entrepreneurs develop their strategy after startup. Combining the frameworks used by Mintzberg et al. (1998) and Rialp-Criado et al. (2010) and the questions asked, seven types of processes are proposed; transformation, rational, intuitive, individual, social, emergent learning, and reactive and proactive processes to explore the strategic process of the Internet entrepreneur in the table 1.
