Topic > The Declaration of Independence and Claiming…

They should be able to have financial independence and not always rely on men to support them. This would make women better socially speaking and, thanks to independence and financial stability, they would be able to be better mother figures in their children's lives. Education would be a determining factor in ensuring women have equal opportunities with men. Education is extremely important to be able to acquire more advanced skills required as you grow up and leave home without always needing a man to depend on. With equal opportunities for women to receive an education just like that of a man, they will be able, for example, to be a better mother to their children, because they will not spoil them but they will not push them either. Better support systems are also needed for women to learn household tasks such as changing the car tire, re-roofing the house or chopping wood for the wood stove. With the help of proper schooling and education on these household tasks, women would have a much greater advantage than sitting at home cooking, cleaning and watching children. Wollstonecraft uses her writing as a way to complain about all the ways men don't treat women right without giving a real explanation as to why all the things they're doing are wrong.
