Christine Daae has a deep bond with the "Angel of Music". Because her father told her stories about this angel when she was little, her favorite story was that of Lotte, a little girl who was visited by the angel and had a beautiful voice. Christine tells Raoul that she will visit her father's grave. They see a violin performance by an invisible person, who she believes is the angel of music or her father's angel. The new owners of the opera think they should go and take a look at stage five themselves. They saw something, but they couldn't really understand it. They think they are hallucinating because they saw different things. Phantom claims war, but asks for a deal in a letter to executives. They don't accept the deal, but do the opposite of what the Ghost asks. At night Christine sings to Raoul and makes him sad because he can tell she is not herself. Carlotta is singing when suddenly she can't. Moncharmin and Firmin sitting in the fifth box feel as if there is someone else there. Carlotta continues to croak and the chandelier crashes to the ground, killing a woman. Christine left suddenly after the night the chandelier collapsed. She is not found for two weeks; until Raoul discovers that she has been kidnapped by her "Angel of Music". He sees her riding in a carriage with a ghostly looking male appearance. The opera holds an annual masquerade ball. Christine arrives with a man wearing a Red Death costume. Christine and Raoul go out together but are just arguing for the first time. He has a confrontation with Red Death, who is presumed to be the Phantom. Christine returns to the Angel of Music, but does not answer any of the questions posed by Raoul. Notice that he has a simple gold ring on his left ring finger. Wish that......half of the card......gic. When they open the barrels they realize that it is not wine, but gunpowder. Christine must decide whether she wants to marry the ghost or die there, at the Opera House, with him. Erik says move the scorpion statue for a yes or the grasshopper statue for a no. Explain that the grasshopper does not spin but jumps. The Persian thinks that if he moves the grasshopper it will cause an explosion, but he also believes that the scorpion will kill everyone too. Christine moves the scorpion and the cellar where Raoul and the Persian are located fills with water. The Earl of Changy is found dead on the shore of the lake where the ghost lives. Raoul, The Persian and Christine escape from the room. Erik is devastated and wants to be buried with the gold ring he gave Christine. The announcement that "Erik is dead" goes out and they bury him by the lake.
