As you walk through the gates of the county elementary school, you see children of all ages playing as they wait for the school bell to ring. As you walk towards the classroom I will be observing you will see students with their parents lined up waiting to be registered. Students must be registered by a parent or guardian for safety precautions and proof that the child has been registered at school. As a visitor, I have to register, this shows that I was in the classroom, what time I was there and the reason for the visit to the classroom. Introduce myself to Mrs Smith, the class teacher, and Mrs Brown, the teaching assistant. ; I explained that I will observe the class. Mrs. Smith informed me that the name of the program is County Unified School District First 5 Pre K Academy, there are 12 elementary schools and 7 that have this program; one of the objectives of the program is to also involve the other 5 elementary schools in the program. They are also part of some other programs that make this program possible for students: Color Me Healthy, CATCH and First 5. Each of these programs has a strong impact on the program and helps in its own program subject. This Pre K program is offered to students ages 4 and 5 and is based on a first-come, first-served basis. Walk around the classroom looking at what is available; I see a storage area where students can store their backpacks and jackets when they need to walk through the door. There is the first aid backpack, evacuation procedures, the date of scheduled drills, the school calendar and important dates in front of the door which is also their emergency exit. Mrs. Smith showed me where there will be information about the program and pr...... in the middle of the newspaper......the environment where the children are located is a safe area, equipped with security and first aid. I really enjoy learning about the late collection policy, this has really informed me more about the word abandonment as well.
