I recently read your article “tiger stuff: long live extinction”, published on 10 June 2007 by the Sunday Times. I find the points you raise to be too harsh or unrealistic from my point of view. Therefore I am writing this letter to help you understand that there are different opinions on this topic and I am writing against your point of view. Did you know that in the 20th century the tiger population was reduced from 100,000 to 3,500? This means that 97% of the world's tiger population has been killed. For example, there are unfortunately only about 40 tigers left in Vietnam. In the first point you say that if we stop locals in Asia from killing tigers, it means they will lose their income and starve. You are right that taking someone's income means they will have a hard time living. However, if we focus our attention on helping and educating them to find other ways to make money, for example by farming and not killing endangered animals. So we will save the tigers and help the locals and this will also benefit their community as well as just them. Furthermore, by educating people we can also help the environment and prevent animal cruelty, which is also a big problem in our world. Then you go on to say that “Aside from a few helpless middle-class Chinese, or if you want a nice carpet, it doesn't make the slightest difference if Johnny Tiger dies. Even if it will make a difference emotionally for animal lovers and conservationists. Besides, wouldn't it be a shame to lose the biggest of cats? And why would you want to get rid of a beautiful creature? Not to mention that the killing of the popular bread of animals and extinction can harm tourism, which is what is happening in Brunei as the killing of……middle of paper……I end my letter by saying that the animals are only as important as humans because without them we would be really stuck, and a lot of the work and labor around the world wouldn't get done and the food wouldn't be as good, we also wouldn't have as good diets and so the species human would suffer in various ways. Furthermore, if there is something that can be done to help prevent the extinction of the tiger, then we should step forward and prevent the extinction of all animals from now on. You should also change your tone of voice and make it more positive about the way you think about animals and extinction and you should be less selfish and care more about the environment. Otherwise you will suffer, along with most people. Finally, we shouldn't just stand back and say goodbye to the tiger when we can do something about it and prevent the extinction of a well-known animal from occurring..
