Topic > Josef Mengele Aka The Angel of Death - 1139

“The more we do to you, the less you seem to believe that we are doing it”, these are the words of one of the most famous figures known for killing thousands of people during the Holocaust. This infamous figure is known as Dr. Josef Mengele aka “The Angel of Death.” To better understand Dr. Josef Mengele one must know the thoughts of others in relation to him and what his practices were during the Holocaust. In this way the real question can be better answered; What drove “The Angel of Death” to torture so many innocent people? Many people believed he was nothing more than a monster, and to others he was just a fixture on the platform doing what his country asked him to do. Margaret Englander, an Auschwitz survivor, worked for Mengele as his employee, bearing witness to life and living. -death selections for one year. “One day he took 4 children with him; he gave them sweets and put them in his car. While he was driving he stopped in the middle of the road and shot everyone." Mengele subsequently sterilized his daughter and chose her to die, just two days after being freed. “I wouldn't want to see him die. Definitely not. I would like to see it; he should suffer for the rest of his life. Yes, that's exactly what I'd like to see. He should be in life and he should suffer and he should hear the survivors tell him what he did to us. (CBS Network) Enrique Mueller was a close friend of Mengele after the Holocaust. Women: “What were you like as a person?” Mueller: “Just like you and me. Everything he did then was his duty. Just like Americans do today, the same bloody experiments they did back then. Everyone knows Mengele here.” Women: “Do you really think he did what people accused him of?” Mueller: “Yes. And I would be... middle of paper... or kill someone with a flick of the wrist ("Josef Mengele"). He was able to hold the fate of thousands of people just in the palm of his hands. The downside of this was that his success came at the expense of innocent people and it is for this reason that Dr. Josef Mengele will forever be known as "The Angel of Death".Works Cited1.
