Experiences of grandmothers caring for orphaned grandchildren in Botswana Problem StatementThe clinical problem in this case study was that the grandmothers, as caregivers, reported very incomplete or no support from extended family and their disadvantaged health concerns compromise their financial situation. Some reported physical pain such as arthritis and working hard at their age. None of the participants had a decent source of income that could help them take care of their orphans. They typically depended on old age pension, cottage and agriculture (Shaibu, 2013, p. 364). The researchers captured the importance of the study with the statistics that 137,805, including 17.2% of children under 18 years of age and 43% of families with orphans. in Botswana they were supervised by their grandparents and these people who took on these responsibilities were already poor and often elderly (Shaibu, 2013, p. 364). The researcher demonstrated that the study was significant because it was necessary to respond to the problems of the caregivers to promote the growth or comfort of the orphan in the country. Purpose and Research Questions The purpose was clearly stated as “to identify the experiences of child grandparents caring for orphaned grandchildren in Botswana” (Shaibu, 2013, p. 364). The researcher did not address any research questions. But in Based on the purpose of the studies, the questions that could answer the reason for this study are: what are the obstacles or difficulties encountered by grandparents who take care of their orphan?
