Soldiers who have been to war have seen things, done things, or heard things that will be deeply disturbing to most people. When this happens to soldiers, they may begin to have problems such as PTSD or post-traumatic stress disorder. This means that they sometimes become violent, start crying for no apparent reason, or even start having flashbacks that take them back to the war they were in. I believe BillyPilgrim has PTSD in the book Slaughterhouse Five and there are many ways this becomes apparent throughout Kurt Vonnegut's novel. The first reason that proves that Billy Pilgrim suffers from PTSD is this quote from the book “He has seen his birth and death many times, he says, and makes random visits to all the events in between”.” (Vonnegut 14) This helps support my point because he is a time traveler and has already seen his death and birth multiple times. It also helps support my point that he randomly goes back to different moments in his past and relives them. My first subquote comes from “Symptoms of PTSD and Family Violence Against Strangers in Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans,” “The findings provide limited support for the hypothesis that PTSD 'flashbacks' Post-traumatic stress in veterans is linked to violence." This subquote from "Symptoms of PTSD and Family Violence Against Strangers in Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans" helps support my point why most veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars tend to have flashbacks triggered or supported by violence for the most part. This helps me because Billy tends to travel back in time or have flashbacks involving violence from when he was at war and when he was in the Dresden prison camp. My second quote from the book Slau...... middle of paper ......in the post-World War II periods, people hadn't really diagnosed PTSD yet, so war veterans , for example: Billy Pilgrim, who had done this to doctors, family members, etc... could not really help veterans with their condition. In conclusion, I believe I supported my thesis with evidence (quotes) from the book itself to help me declare that my thesis was right. I had also found three secondary evidence (citations) from reliable sources that will support my main evidence for my thesis. I had fully supported my thesis without anyone else being able to really challenge it because I found reliable information from reliable sources. I finally explained and supported my thesis that I believed Billy Pilgrim had PTSD in the book Slaughterhouse Five and there are many ways this becomes evident in Kurt Vonnegut's novel..
