“You must be the change you wish to see in the world.” This simple 12-word phrase from Gandhi says a lot about how we should go about our daily lives. Whether we want change, big or small, our actions, ranging from smiling at a stranger in the morning to going to a third world country to help fight malaria, help create change in our world. For Zach Hunter, his action was to take a stand against slavery in other countries around the world and in his own country, the United States. Zach Hunter, like many others, finds his motivation in realizing the injustices a group of people are facing and tries to change the circumstances. that concern them. Zach ultimately found his motivation after realizing that slavery still exists in the world today and felt a moral obligation to help fight it. To truly understand why Zach is working to abolish slavery in today's world we must first understand where, why, and how it came to be. happens. The first is where, today “a recent population explosion has tripled the number of people in the world, with most of the growth taking place in developing countries,” (Slavery Today) where this growth has created an abundance of poor people desperate for a way to pay for food and shelter in these developing countries. This desperation makes them very susceptible to becoming slaves in these countries. One of the biggest contributing factors to why slavery still exists today is government. Government corruption is rampant in these countries, which “allows slavery to go unpunished, even though it is illegal everywhere.” and an easy way to bring in large sums of money. It's also "I... middle of paper... with every change the world would be a very different and better place." This is for the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. Those who see things differently. They don't like rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify them, or denigrate them. The only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because things change. They push the human race forward. And while some might see them as crazy, we see them as geniuses. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.” (Apple Inc.)
