Study BasisMotivation is the power of ourselves to achieve something. This can be an academic score, work score, losing weight, wanting a reward, or something else. In reality the motivation derives from the Latin word “movere”. Motive is a specific need or desire that awakens the organism and directs its behavior towards a goal. All reasons are triggered by some kind of stimulus: a body condition, such as low blood sugar or dehydration; a signal in the environment, such as a “Sale” sign; or feelings, such as loneliness, guilt, or anger. When a stimulus induces goal-directed behavior, we say that it has motivated the person. It has two types of motivation which is intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation refers to motivation that comes from within an individual, for example when you want to get a score on an exam, you will study hard and study smart to get it. It's called self-empowerment in yourself. Another example, when you want something, you will try to achieve it until your dream becomes reality. However, intrinsic motivation is not related to extrinsic motivation. Extrinsic motivation refers to motivation that comes from outside an individual. For example, extrinsic reward such as interpersonal rewards, salary and wages, promotions, and employee benefits. Another example is when you are not interested in the subject you study, you will feel boring and finally the possibility of failure is high. However, as a college student, motivation is a power that can change someone from nothing to something. For example, from a lazy student to a diligent student. From my research, I study the influence of motivation on students' academic performance at Kolej Poly-Tech Mara, Kuala Lumpur. In my opinion, student is a person who attends lectures...half of the paper...questionnaires/schedules, etc. Interviews/publication of questionnaires, etc. Editing completed questionnaires, grouping and coding data, entering data into a computerDesigning and testing a computer programRaw/draft qualitative data analysis tabulationsData analysisReport on findings.Presentation of final research product(s)Conclusion. From my research, what I can conclude is that all students need motivation to succeed in their academic career but do not know how to obtain and manage motivation. As a student, motivation is very important to guide the student to be a disciplined people. In the world of studies, students face many challenges from friends, family and even themselves. so, the solution of this thesis is that when students are highly motivated, they can score in the exam, and finally, their academic performance will increase.
