If you're like me and like watches, especially the analog kind, you'll definitely be aware of the "tick-tac" sound they make in the background. With every tick and tap a little of your life slips away, never to be redeemed. It sounds dramatic but it's true. Whether you pay attention or not, time ticks by and minutes turn into hours and then into days and before long another year bites the dust. It's unfortunate that sometimes we get so caught up in our daily routine that we fail to pursue the things that are a real matter to us as individuals. Yes, paying the bills and making sure the kids are fed and your career can give you some satisfaction in life. Yet, beyond these life expectations, there are a handful of things you pass on that would make your life a little more exciting and create great stories for your grandchildren, too. These ideas are what I would propose for a bucket list. The concept of a to-do list was introduced into popular culture by the movie "To-Do List" starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman. The term “bucket list” is taken from the idiom “to kick the bucket.” Usually the temptation would be to put everything you would like to accomplish, big or small, on your bucket list. You would then start ticking them off one by one as you would with household chores or tasks on your daily to-do list. If it works fine, however I would prefer to use a different approach. My bucket list consists of those things that I believe will make me a better person for having done them and will give me the most interesting stories to tell when I am wrinkled and grey.1. Traveling for Leisure I would like to travel somewhere drastically different from my hometown, Nairobi. While the world's most famous capitals shine with... the middle of paper... one of these beautiful days I will. I will participate in one of these marathons and hope to register for a major international marathon in the future.9. Mastering Public Speaking Even though I attended college, I have never been an excellent public speaker, so even though I have a degree in communications I find my skills in this area to be average. I aspire to have “Obama-style” presentations. In line with these I have already joined a local charter of an international public speaking club. I also trust that this will help me in other areas as well as it is bound to make me a better listener.10. Practicing a Martial ArtGrowing up in the era where Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, and Van Dame were the guys to watch, I always wanted to learn a martial art.
