Topic > Company in Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck

Although she has a husband, she doesn't like him. She flirts with all the workers at the barn, she told them she was lonely because she wanted some company and Curley wasn't home most of the time. In this novel Curley's wife seems to cause trouble for the other boys in the stable because she is always flirting with them and this makes Curley very jealous. When he gets all jealous he gets angry at the other farmers. One day when Curley's wife stopped by Crooks' bunk, she found Lennie and started flirting with him and Crooks wanted her to leave them alone. Curley's wife was not afraid of Crooks because he was black and told him that all he had to do was scream rap and he would die. Later in the book Lennie was all alone with his dead puppy when Curley's wife thought it was the perfect time to come talk to him since all the other men were playing house shoes. She got Lennie to talk to her, Lennie didn't want to because George told him not to take her with him. “George says I must have nothing to do with you: talk to you or nothing” (Steinbeck 43). This shows the power of having someone supporting you
