George Washington, the first president of the United States, had written a very important speech and historical document towards the end of his term. He had written the farewell speech focused on helping America understand the importance of preserving unity, recognizing the rise of political party formation, strengthening religion and morality, and had stated his position on foreign policy American. He addressed these ideas with a strong tone and used an incredible amount of diction that strengthens his tone and largely represents his appeal to ethics. However, today's society seems to have forgotten Washington's position on foreign policy and has created a new form of politics. However, as time passes, changes occur. In today's society, Washington's foreign policy would include many positive and negative manifestations, but it is still a discourse and a document that will always apply to America. One of the main goals of Washington's farewell speech was to warn US citizens that America should not get involved in foreign relations, especially with the tension between the French and the British. He wanted America to remain neutral in foreign affairs and not enter into long-term alliances with other nations. He stated that “Europe has a series of primary interests, which for us have none, or a very remote relationship.” He explained how it is unwise for America to get involved in artificial ties. Washington believed that if America dealt with foreign nations, it would influence the people and government to act as they wanted. In other words, Washington encouraged Americans to take advantage of the new union and avoid many political issues with others. Washington was also concerned about ...... middle of paper ......r to help each other and also contribute to the vote for the country. However, even today America still has clusters of political parties that influence the country both positively and negatively, unlike what Washington thought. He stated that parties would cause problems, however parties are what keeps the government intact and also helps in making decisions for the country. Washington's farewell address focused primarily on foreign policy, but expressed concern about his other ideas such as religion and unity. Today's foreign policy is different from what Washington had hoped for in his farewell address, but his policy today would have many different positive and negative manifestations. With its strong use of diction that reinforces its tone and its appeal to ethics, Washington's speech certainly played a role in America's current position today..
