In this short story a man named Mr. Fummelton went to a halfway house to get rehabilitated, but things there started to bother him in a way such that it shouldn't have. Since his condition made him nervous, his niece decided to prank him by telling him a story about her aunt's family. At first Mr Fummelton was sympathetic towards the lady so when she arrived late he did nothing but understand her feelings and pain. But as time passed she soon realized that her aunt was going crazy because she kept talking about the family as if they were still alive. He was nervous until he physically saw the mirage bodies in the window while talking to his aunt. This caused him to quickly run away before his aunt could fully introduce her family to him. This story also took away situational irony due to the fact that the author had the niece tell a convincing story of which the audience was also convinced of the story but it had an ending with a twist while the aunt's family was not really dead but in reality he was returning from a
