I lived in a small 3 bedroom apartment in a small but quiet neighborhood. The sidewalks were cracked and the grass looked like it hadn't been cut in months. Occasionally there were police cars racing down my street, but I didn't care, anything was better than the plans. We had a convenience store on the corner that sold just about everything you could ask for. There were a lot of fun kids working, always joking around and throwing neighborhood parties while also helping families who didn't have much. They took a group of children to school every day, even offering rides when it snowed. They would buy coats for the homeless walking the streets and feed them every day. When I turned 15 I started working with them in the shop. I mostly swept floors or delivered items to customers every day after school. I had the opportunity to interact with the neighborhood and learned to make friends. For the first time I felt happy in my home. Everything was going so well until the corner store closed
