Topic > Equality: An Uphill Battle - 942

I believe that no child, no human being, should hide who they are. There are people who hide it every day for fear of not being accepted. These people hide their sexuality and are called horrible and vulgar things. Some protest and fight for their rights, but they seem to be suffocated by the strength of their opponents. It's time for the world to be less narrow-minded, to see with its heart and not with its eyes. The time has come to understand that different is good, different is good. It is time for those who have remained silent for too long to speak up and shout with their newfound voice until freedom is won. There are so many who are insecure and so full of what it is like they can't breathe. So they get their oxygen by breathing out all their insecurities about others. These people spend their entire lives so infatuated with hate that they don't even stop to think why. Why? 'Why?' is really the question; why do they feel so strongly attached to those who are labeled "gay" or "lesbian"? They are scared, some say, or homophobic. For them, homosexuals are a disease that is transmitted to others. This is so logically wrong, and illogically wrong, that the point should be considered moot. There are also religious people, who protest and rebel against gay marriage, saying things like “Save yourself! GAY is wrong, and God can help you before you go to hell!” It is often said that God loves all his children, but if this is true, then some must have been forgotten. All people are people, and something as small as their sexuality should not deprive them of their basic rights. Let's go back to 1900, African Americans were treated like animals. They were told they were worthless and were physically and mentally abused as if they were. Now let's get specific...half of the document...heavily tested against Oregon's gay marriage ban. This led the judge to reconsider the ban and ultimately lift it. Pennsylvania followed a day later. People like that are the people who should be admired. They stand up and fight against the greater force, which requires great courage. It is time for many of us to be able to carry out this courageous and courageous act. It's time for those who don't understand to get an education; because their contribution will become fundamental. It's time for the ignorant, the angry, the religious, the homophobic and the exclusive to understand what defines equality. It's time for all of us to come together, put aside our differences and our anger, and live this life as if we lived, breathed, thought, equal. Equality: (noun) the state of being equal in all things; rights, social status, life, etc.
