Currently, voting is a right, but forced voting isn't such a terrible thing to be a part of in the first place. There are various benefits to voting and for this reason compulsory voting should not be the conflict that it is. A good example would be to look at the progress Canadian students would make from compulsory grading. Should compulsory voting come into effect, issues affecting young Canadians would be given greater consideration. Currently, it is commonly known that voter turnout among young Canadians is slowly declining. The voices of young Canadians are ignored because parties do not highlight the concerns of individuals who do not engage in any form of politics, as simple as voting. If voter turnout among young Canadians was higher due to compulsory voting, issues such as high university tuition would be taken into account. Voting is and should be seen as a pleasant obligation. Canadians are literally given the opportunity to decide who should govern their country and for this reason the right to vote is only important if it is used
