Topic > The Bible: The Story of the Bible - 786
The book focuses on authority, where the narrative of the birth of Jesus is more focused on Joseph and the baby Jesus. In Matthew, an angel of the Lord visits Joseph and he explains that his virgin bride will be given a son and he will be her son. However, in Luke, the Gospel focuses more on Mary. Although the Gospel is not aimed at a female audience, it focuses its birth narrative on Mary and the angel who visits not only Joseph, but Mary as well. Where Matthew steers his audience in an authoritative direction, Luke was written for a passionate audience. By passionate, the authors did not mean a loving, dove direction, but rather a compassionate, emotional, heart-based direction.
