All human beings are created equal, but every human being is different in his own way. Some people benefit from their differences and some don't; those who do are true individuals. Passion, perseverance and conservation are the foundation of an individual. Individuals stand up for what they believe in, pursue what they want, and contribute to being part of a greater whole. Individuals embrace who they truly are and what they represent, regardless of whether they stand alone in a crowd. Since the beginning of humanity, people have yearned for meaning, sought their purpose in life, but relatively few have found theirs. Most humans live following the crowd, the ants in line, but those peopleHe shocked the world with his recent announcement that he will undergo a sex change to become a woman. Since childhood, he felt something different in his soul and knew that he was destined to be a woman. For sixty-five years he lived in hiding, putting up a facade so as not to disappoint his family or be crucified by the public. In his commencement speech at Stanford, Steve Jobs, one of the greatest leaders and innovators, said: “Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't get trapped by dogma, which means living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other people's opinions drown out your inner voice. And, most importantly, have the courage to follow your heart and your intuition” (news.stanford.edu). It took Bruce Jenner sixty-five years to live as his inner voice told him. Even though Bruce Jenner does it for himself, his individualism is paving the way for many people like him who still let the noise of other people's opinions stop them from being true. Store-bought clothes almost never fit perfectly, and of course they would. Not because they're made the same for countless different body types, but if you care enough about fitting them to your body, the clothes feel like they were made with you in mind. And although customizing your clothes makes a big difference in how they look on your body, not many people do it regularly. Why should that be? Because most people don't want to invest extra time, money and effort. Likewise, society is not tailor-made to fit everyone. If we want to harmonize with society, we must change it to suit ourselves and not vice versa. We must be the tailors of our society. It is we, the people, who must initiate change through individuality of ideas and proactivity
