According to Wattenberg, "With recent generations having established modern minimums for reading newspapers, watching television news, and knowing public affairs, it is expected that their voter turnout rates should decline substantially behind their elders” (Wattenberg, 88) After stating this quote, he goes into more detail about how much this connection fits into a cycle As young people are not informed about political issues and current, they fail to show up for elections because they do not fully understand what or who they are about to vote for. It begins to express that society is in a cycle where the youth of America will always have the least presence in terms of participation
