The first occurrence of this is when Julia defends her brother after he enters their father's office. She let her father know that the same thing had happened to her and that she "had no choice" but to go to his office (14). This sibling support for parents is the culmination of that type of relationship. Even though my brother and I can be mean to each other, we always defend each other in front of our parents because we understand where others are coming from. Additionally, Julia defends Jason in front of her cousin. She counters Alex's remarks towards Jason by saying, "I couldn't see you getting much out of this, Alex...Jason's work lacks the subtlety and maturity of Scorpios" (49). When I especially defend my younger brother, I can see the gratitude on his face. I really feel like Jason appreciates it too, especially since he mentally comments that, “I could have kissed Julia out of pure gratitude. Almost” (49). Like most sibling relationships, Jason and Julia share an important bond that could easily be missed with a passing glance but is always present. This is how I feel my brothers and I demonstrate our care for each other
