Every January, protesters crowd the streets of Washington DC with signs boldly exclaiming, "Abortion is murder," "Right to Life," and "Pro-Life." The March for Life protest draws about a quarter of a million people from across the country each year to demonstrate their disdain for abortion. Since the Supreme Court ruling on Roe v. Wade in 1973, both Americans and legislators remain in constant dispute over the moral and legal issues of early termination of pregnancy. Those who oppose abortion firmly believe that abortion denies the “right to life” and consider it morally reprehensible. On the other hand, pro-choice advocates argue that such statements simply embody religious beliefs and values. Pro-abortion advocates argue that the right to abortion belongs exclusively to the pregnant woman. Despite the endless rants and diatribes of pro-choice advocates and their attempts to justify early termination of pregnancy, I find abortion to be constitutionally illegal, immoral, and downright disgusting because there are many alternatives to the issue. The Constitution of the United States of America contains a logical case for life. The nature and premises of his body are rooted in the fundamental foundations of human existence: surviving and reproducing. The Fifth Amendment preserves the right to life: “No person shall… be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law” (United States Constitution). Those who are pro-choice often debate the fact that the decision to terminate a pregnancy early falls within the category of women's rights. The importance of safeguarding the freedom of all citizens of the United States emerges several times in the Constitution, but this freedom of choice cannot be so infinite to have. .. middle of paper...
