The 2nd Amendment of the Bill of Rights of the United States Constitution states the following: "...the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed." This inalienable right has led to numerous massacres across the country since its establishment and has been a subject of controversy and interest from then until now. An amendment to the Bill of Rights is an inalienable right and therefore cannot be taken away because the United States government itself was created to protect them. While the amendment cannot and will not be eradicated entirely, there are still steps we need to take so that we can live in a world where we are better prepared in situations where we encounter an armed threat. the militias being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed." The Second Amendment is seen and interpreted in many meanings; some of them are based solely on the wording of the amendment. This constitutes the first step in the battle for gun rights, determining the meaning of the Second Amendment. It has long been debated whether the Second Amendment granted the right to bear arms only to white males, considering the fact that they wrote all the amendments. If we were talking about all citizens of the United States, guaranteeing the aforementioned right to women too, and if blacks were to be considered citizens of the United States and finally guaranteed the same rights as everyone else.
