The Judgment of the People by Machiavelli “Knowledge is power. Power to do evil... or power to do good. Power itself is not evil. Therefore knowledge in itself is not evil” (Veronica Roth). Machiavelli provides all his useful knowledge to aspiring or current rulers. The information is also useful for understanding how Machiavelli truly thought during his time in power. He experienced many things that convinced him to think like him. He has a specific mindset when it comes to certain ideals. Machiavelli presents some opinions that are noticeably different from those of other individuals when considering human nature, including desires and justice, the decency of people, and the virtues of a prince. Machiavelli had a unique character. Machiavelli uses virtue in the sense that one has the agility, strength, dexterity, and discretion of a ruler. He explains that the ability to obtain or maintain power is a virtue, to be demonstrated, "...the difficulty of remaining in power will be proportional to his abilities or failures...he cannot go from being a commoner to a ruler without talent or favorable circumstances, we must assume that one or the other of these factors will be counterbalancing...” (Machiavelli 22) believes that finding or creating one's power is extremely difficult if one does not possess virtue throughout chapter VI examples of successful rulers are given: "Those like these men, who become princes by the ways of virtue, acquire their principality with difficulty but maintain it with ease" (Machiavelli 23, Moses, and Romulus). Machiavelli assumes that having virtue as a prince contributes to one's success. Machiavelli's The Prince deals with topics of great importance. He has knowledge that is very useful to people in power. He also has a specific way of thinking when it comes to certain ideals. He had a different way of seeing things during his time, which made his knowledge so great. Machiavelli has a unique vision of human nature, people and
