The curriculum is student-centered, so it will be tailored to the interests of the student who wishes to learn. It will also emphasize collaborative learning so that students can learn to work together. This is very important to help them prepare for success in society. We should encourage students to explore their environment to create their own ideas and to use critical thinking and questioning. Progressives believe that every idea has merit, but when tested, some prove truer than others. Divergent thinking is strongly encouraged. Each student thinks differently so they can use their own ideas to come to different conclusions, instead of a teacher giving them an answer and a way to get it.
