A trading era, known as the Atlantic Slave Trade Era, took place in a triangular shape between East and West Africa, North America, the Caribbean islands, and parts of Europe. The Triangular Trade would begin with the shipping of slaves from Africa to areas of the Caribbean and along the Gulf Coast and Atlantic coast of North America. Once this trade was completed, the sugar would be shipped to European areas. Finally, the artifacts would be shipped to the final destination of the triangular trade in Africa. The slave trade would bring many countries together; on the other hand, the slave trade would create tensions within nations causing civil wars and revolutions. Many tried for years to curtail the slave trade. Slaves also, although without much success, attempted to end slavery with slave rebellions. One of the most successful slave rebellions was led by Toussaint Louvature in Saint-Domingue. The success of the revolt would lead to the renaming of the territory to Haiti (Sources from the Past 533, 566). Along with slave rebellions, the American and French Revolutions would play a role in the demise of the slave trade.
