Aborigines were taught to reject their Aboriginality and culture so as to become more like white Australians in the sense of religion and education. Being native, Aboriginal people would hardly have been able to assert their right to their homeland and would most likely not have been able to take part in their culture or the spiritual life of their former communities. Unlike British migrants, Aboriginal people found it easier to find and visit their families because they were still in the same country from which they had been taken. Even when they were let go by whites, Aboriginal people still received as much criticism after leaving orphanages than when they arrived there. No matter how much the Australian government wanted to make Aboriginal people white, you cannot change someone's skin color so they are never seen as the same. British migrants were mostly taken from orphanages and not from their homes and most of them knew where they were going. The migrants traveled from Britain and had them describe Australia as probably one of the best places to travel to and that it would be a better place than where they were at the time. There were also many more British migrants taken from families than Aboriginal people. Unlike Aboriginal people, British immigrants were considered more accepted because of the color of their skin, which was exactly what the Australian government wanted for Aboriginal people, but never
