Some might say that digital texts, including graphics and images, have become increasingly popular lately, as the technology has also become popular. While this may be true, others argue that printed texts have existed for hundreds of years and do not appear to have been displaced by the advent of digital texts. Say no to plagiarism. In most schools, it is essential that students bring iPads or tablets to work on. Many say this is because digital texts can be adapted to the student's needs. When using technology with digital texts, it is very easy to delete, copy, translate and perform many other actions on the text. Even some assessments, like NAPLAN and OLNA, are now done online and students have to write everything down. It is quite clear that schools are increasingly reliant on technology and, therefore, digital texts. It is considered easier for students, and also easier for teachers to correct. Arguments in favor of reading print However, for the older generations of society, reading print is easier and is what they grew up with. When you think about newspapers, it's usually older people who are still interested. Perhaps they find that the feel of the paper helps them interact with the actual text. Many studies have shown that a large percentage of people find it easier to concentrate on a text when they have to physically hold it in their hands. In this case, it would be easier to read from a newspaper or book, rather than scrolling through an article online, especially since you are likely to be interrupted by advertisements and pop-ups when using technology and the Internet. ConclusionPersonally I prefer printed texts. When I study, I much prefer using a physical textbook rather than an online version, as I find it more engaging and easier to pay attention to. However, I believe that digital texts have become more influential in our society, especially as technology has evolved. Nowadays, many more people are visual learners and therefore grasp new concepts more easily by looking at graphs and images and being able to manipulate their texts in different ways. Digital text makes it much easier to do these things, which is why it is becoming more and more popular. ReferencesWarschauer, M. (2018).
