Desperate to get the girls' attention, Sammy quits his job because his manager has embarrassed them. When he goes out to look for the girls, they are nowhere to be seen. This bold attempt at being the hero leaves him standing outside looking at his manager as he notices that "his face was dark and gray and his back stiff, as if he had just been given an injection of iron, and my stomach he lowered himself when I heard how hard the world would be for me from here on out” (324) Sammy discovers that his heroism is actually immaturity and this will make his life harder later the girls; then, their lives will move on and Sammy will have to start looking for a new job Sammy will have difficulty in the next chapter of his life due to a hastily made decision a love story, the differences can be found in the nature of the speaker's activities and the outcome of what they learn in the end. Both narrators go through a change within themselves that transforms them into better people. These stories are significant in the world today because people often make hasty decisions and live in fantasies. It is difficult to see reality through the illusions in your head and this can lead to rash decisions that can negatively affect your life later.
