Topic > Traditional and Modern Family Composition - 2084

In today's generation, there are many forms of family composition that contribute to how a society defines a family. There is the traditional family where there are heterosexual parents and biological children. There is also the modern family where there is a larger combination, extended relationships and children out of wedlock. In all forms of family composition, the family plays an important role with a function that contributes to the balance of society. Looking deeper at a smaller scale model of society, having a family is a significant component of every individual's life. Family bonds can bring positivity, strength, and happiness, but they can also bring difficult challenges. A conflict within a family such as divorce has a sociological impact that affects all family members, especially children. Therefore, it redefines the roles and responsibilities of each family member. Each individual may look at divorce from different angles due to the different beliefs, attitudes and knowledge that each individual possesses. Two different people would say that divorce has redefined the family composition positively or negatively. However, a neutral person would simply accept the fact that family arrangements have changed and redefined. Every aspect is taken into consideration when discussing the effects of divorce. The outcome of a divorce cannot be changed or altered at any time. However, an understanding of divorce should be established to provide more care and security to the affected children because it would greatly reduce the chances of negative effects in the future. According to a CQ Researcher report “Future of Marriage” by David Masci, “ nearly 50% of all marriages in the United States now end… middle of paper… one way to help parents and children deal with stress and the depression that divorce can bring. Therefore, it will benefit in the future. Awareness and availability of an early intervention program for divorced families will only work if it is properly publicized. The actions taken by divorcing parents are crucial to children's success in recovering from the situation. Participating in early intervention programs or simply providing assurance and assistance can alter the negative effects on children. If this problem is not adequately addressed, a broken family will be created with a consequent negative sociological impact on society. Current and subsequent generations will have a different perception of marriage, causing a change in the direction of the social system. Marriage of divorcees should not be taken lightly because it not only affects the family but also the society.
