Essay on the value of lifeHow do you value life? This is the question that comes to every individual's mind at least once in their life. The answer is not definitive. Everyone has different beliefs and morals; this makes it a difficult task to manifest the value of life in a definitive answer. I believe that every individual has a personal value of life, each of us appreciates different aspects of life more than others. Life is priceless. There is no specific value that can be attributed to it. There is no way to evaluate the value of a life. Of course you can calculate the economic value of a person or his career, but a career is not a life. There are many aspects to why life is priceless. You cannot measure a person's values, nor can you weigh their life experiences. Triumphs and defeats build character and provide insights. Some may be considered wiser than others, but does this make their lives more valuable? Lives cannot be compared to each other, no matter how similar they are. A person may be completely satisfied with their life and you with yours, but switch places and you may find their life unsatisfactory. The answer to this question is simple; everyone attributes different values to various aspects of life. Rodger Ebert, an eminent film critic, lost the ability to eat and speak due to various surgeries, but despite his misfortunes he continues to enjoy life. Why? It was because he was still able to do what he loved. A positive outlook would have been difficult to maintain without his own passions and values. “To be or not to be: that is the question.” (Shakespeare III.i.1) Indeed this is the question. Many refuse to believe that their time on this Earth will end, while others can't wait for it to end. He is all determined... middle of the card... in tune with life, and does not have to wait to see what his misfortunes will be after death. Ebert appreciated the joys and experiences he had throughout his life. Who appreciated life more? You can't say it. Although Ebert had a more optimistic outlook on life than Hamlet, they both felt that life enhanced her. After all, no one in their right mind would want to lose their life. This in itself proves that every person values at least one life. While you might want to place some sort of value on life, that's impossible. No two people have the same appreciation of life, no matter how similar. While we may search for precise answers, only one can be found and that is that each individual experiences a unique life. This shapes their appreciation of life and, in turn, will help them draw their own conclusions to give life its own unique value.
