Culture can shape us as individuals in many different ways. Things like gender and race play an important role in shaping us as individuals. Culture shapes how we as people see the world. Webster's Dictionary defines culture as “The integrated pattern of human knowledge, beliefs, and behavior that depends on man's ability to learn and transmit knowledge to subsequent generations. They are also the customary beliefs, social forms, and material traits of a racial, religious, or social group” (Webster). Studies show that people from different cultures perceive and see things very differently, most likely due to the way their culture has shaped the way they see and act with the world. I believe many people sometimes overlook the fact that a culture can be different for each person and, in turn, are presumptuous in treating it differently. Culture affects people differently by the way they do things. People can take all sorts of different things and make them their own. In today's world people take all kinds of different cultures and make them their own. Take for example music, dancing, clothes, food and a whole host of other things that people in society like. Culture can be defined by the way we live our daily lives, including art, religion, music and a lot of other things of a population that are passed down from generation to generation. Culture has been defined as "the way of life of an entire society". As I said before, culture includes mannerisms, language, religion, the way we dress, norms of behavior such as law and morality, and belief systems including art. For example, in the Confucian tradition, a person is taught to bring out the best in others, to observe moral principles in themselves and not to compare others frivolously... middle of paper... a person cannot exist fully alone and that a person will reach the highest form of existence only when he mentally divides himself between others, himself and the environment. Most people agree that culture has a huge effect on how we live our daily lives and how it can influence what we may wear, say, listen to, and all sorts of other things. Until recently, most psychology and neuroscience researchers took advantage of what they found in research and told them about various cultures. Over the past 10 years or so, research has been conducted to unpack cultural beliefs and how they can shape our thoughts and behaviors. Culture can shape us as individuals in many different ways. We hope that one day all cultures can be praised and shared around the world, even though culture may separate us in how we think, we can still embrace the ideas of others and learn from them..
